The Argentine was dreaming of adding a baby girl to his brood but now finds himself in the middle of a nightmare, courtesy of a blunder at Florencio Diaz Hospital in Cordoba.
Base, who was all set for his routine operation last Tuesday, was stunned when he came round to the nurse’s unbelievable news: the surgeons had gotten their wires crossed, mistaking him for a vasectomy patient because, apparently, gallbladder surgeries aren’t on the menu for Wednesdays!
Fuming and flabbergasted, Base unloaded to El Doce TV, ‘I’m seething with anger. How can you confuse a gallbladder with snipping the baby-maker? It’s not rocket science to check a medical file!’
Already a dad to two boys, Base had hopes pinned on fathering a daughter with his new partner. However, those dreams have been dashed with doctors telling him reversing the vasectomy is almost impossible given his age and the condition of his vas deferens. It looks like artificial insemination is now his only shot at fatherhood again.
As if the vasectomy fiasco wasn’t enough, Base had to endure another round under the knife to actually get his gallbladder removed.
The Ministry of Health is now on the case, diving into how such a colossal cock-up could happen. Stay tuned as this dad navigates the choppy waters from gallbladder to gonads in the most bewildering hospital visit ever.
