Tragic discovery: Body believed to be missing British TV star Michael Mosley found on Greek island

The body of a man, believed to be the missing British TV personality Michael Mosley, was discovered on a rocky coastline of the picturesque Greek island of Symi on Sunday morning local time.

An anonymous police source disclosed that the body was found by a private boat, and while formal identification is pending, it is believed to be Mosley. The famous presenter and author disappeared on Wednesday afternoon after leaving a beach for a walk.

Authorities report that the deceased had been dead for several days. The ongoing investigation continues as the island community reels from the news.

Mosley’s wife, who described the search for her husband as “unbearable,” had been holding onto hope for his safe return. The beloved 67-year-old, known for his television and radio appearances, as well as his column in the Daily Mail, was on holiday with his wife, Dr. Clare Bailey. They had arrived on the island to spend a week with friends.

The search for Mosley was extensive, involving police dogs, drones, and countless volunteers scouring the rugged terrain. He was last seen at St. Nicholas beach after taking a swim, intending to walk back to the house they were staying at around 1:30 PM on Wednesday. His phone was found at their accommodation, and his wife reported him missing when he failed to return by 7:30 PM.

The search efforts intensified with appeals on local social media groups. One post read: “Have you seen this man? He set off to walk back from St Nick’s at about 13:30 and failed to make it home. His friends are concerned as it is 6 hours since they last saw him. His name is Dr. Mike Mosley and he is a familiar face for many British people.”

Greek police spokesman Constantina Dimoglidou told the Daily Mail that Mosley may have slipped, tripped, or even been bitten by a snake. “We’re looking everywhere for him … It’s rugged terrain with high spots, so it’s possible that he fell,” she said.

The tragic discovery has left many in shock, as Mosley’s influence extends far beyond the U.K., particularly with his best-selling book “The Fast Diet,” which introduced the popular “5:2 diet” concept.

The island’s deputy mayor, Ilias Chaskas, mentioned that a rescue operation had focused on the Pedi area of Symi after a reported sighting of Mosley there days earlier. As the investigation continues, the world mourns the loss of a respected figure in health and media.
