Around 6 p.m., a motorist reported that a person in a yellow vehicle pointed a gun at them while driving north near Hampton Downs.

Within minutes, police located the suspect’s car as it exited at Drury, thanks to support from the Eagle helicopter.

Inspector Matt Hoyes, Counties Manukau South Area Prevention Manager, detailed how ground units carried out an armed vehicle stop on Chichester Drive in Papakura.

A loaded shotgun and additional cartridges were discovered during a search, leading to the swift arrest of three people without any resistance.

Inspector Hoyes praised the quick-thinking public report, which enabled officers to promptly locate and neutralize the threat.
