Biden’s bizarre moment at D-Day ceremony as Macron steps in to save face

The 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy took an unexpected twist today as US President Joe Biden appeared disoriented during the solemn ceremony.

French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte had to step in to cover for him.

Held in Colleville-sur-Mer, France, where US forces faced heavy losses on June 6, 1944, the event saw global leaders come together to honor the largest sea invasion in history. Biden joined to pay tribute to World War II heroes.

As Biden and Macron walked out on stage, Macron stayed close to guide the American president. While Macron paused to greet attendees, Biden looked confused, glancing around as if lost.

Macron, noticing Biden’s disorientation, gave him a reassuring thumbs up, clearly concerned about his state.

Throughout the back-to-back national anthems of France and the United States, Macron kept a watchful eye on Biden. A video clip from the ceremony circulating on social media shows Biden turning around halfway through the performance of Taps.

In a somewhat awkward moment, Macron and his wife mirrored Biden’s turn, seemingly to cover up for the US leader’s confusion.
