Drunken antics and inappropriate affair: Former principal suspended for six months

A former school principal has been suspended for six months following a series of misconduct incidents, including a drunken display during an online board meeting and an affair with a teacher aide.

The principal, whose identity is protected, was reported for slurring her words, kissing the camera, and falling off her chair during a Zoom meeting. Additionally, her aggressive leadership style reduced teachers to tears, leading to multiple resignations and a toxic work environment. Her intimate relationship with a teacher aide, marked by an imbalance of power and inappropriate messages, further highlighted her lack of professional judgment.

The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal found the principal’s behaviour unacceptable, citing her poor handling of staff and personal boundaries. Apart from the suspension, she must undergo therapy and provide future employers with the tribunal’s decision.

Despite her recent clean record at another school, the tribunal emphasised the significant risks she posed, necessitating strict oversight to prevent future misconduct. The tribunal’s decision aims to protect her family and address her longstanding mental health issues.
