Mastermind burglar busted: From water tanker heist to residential raid in Whangārei

A woman has been charged and brought to court over a series of alleged burglaries in Whangārei, including a recent break-in at a Kamo residence and the theft of a water tanker truck last month.

Whangārei Area Commander, Inspector Maria Nordstrom, said the 43-year-old female suspect had been arrested without incident, following a police response to a reported burglary on Station Road.

Investigations linked her to another burglary at a Wanaka Street construction site.

The stolen vehicle has been recovered and returned to its owner.

The woman has already appeared in court and is scheduled to reappear on March 27, 2024, with the possibility of additional charges.

In a police statement Inspector Nordstrom praised the community’s vigilance and the quick police response, emphasizing the invasive nature of property crimes and the commitment to holding offenders accountable.
