Ashes Series returns to England after 20 years as Kangaroos plan 2025 tour

The long-anticipated Ashes showdown is making a thrilling return, with the world champion Kangaroos set to tour England in 2025 for a historic three-Test series.

It’s been more than two decades since the last Ashes series in England, and RL Commercial is in “initial conversations” with the Australian Rugby League Commission to finalise the tour’s feasibility.

Originally slated to take place in Australia, the plan has been revamped, bringing the Kangaroos back to English soil for the first Ashes series since their 2003 whitewash victory over Great Britain.

British fans are already buzzing, as RL Commercial anticipates an enthusiastic reception from players and supporters alike.

The 2025 Ashes will be the first home clash against Australia since the Kangaroos’ win over England at the 2016 Four Nations.

“Bringing the Kangaroos to these shores for a three-match series…would be welcomed by our England team and the British sporting public,” RL Commercial shared.

The return of the Ashes series highlights a fresh chapter in international rugby league, especially after pandemic cancellations and the recent reshuffling of the 2026 Rugby League World Cup to Australia and Papua New Guinea.
