Crusaders crash to historic low in Fiji fumble

The Crusaders' downfall post-Scott Robertson era hit rock bottom as they faced a shocking defeat for the third time in a row this season - a first since Super Rugby's birth in 1996.

The mighty have fallen hard in Fiji, succumbing 20-10 to the relentless Drua, marking a staggering 28-year low for the rugby giants.

In a game marred by chaos and a whopping 36 turnovers, the Drua outplayed, outsmarted, and outlasted the Crusaders, leaving them scoreless in the second half. The spotlight shone bright on Frank Lomani, crowned man of the match, and the golden boot of Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula, who kicked the Crusaders into submission.

Sevu Reece’s solo sprint to glory, notching his 50th try, was the lone highlight in an otherwise dim performance by the Crusaders. Their game was riddled with errors, botched lineouts, and a shocking 20 turnovers, painting a grim picture of confusion and disarray.

Coach Rob Penney was seen gaping in disbelief as his team’s downward spiral continued, marking his eighth consecutive loss in the Super Rugby realm. Captain Scott Barrett’s admission of poor execution and missed opportunities echoed the team’s plight, as they handed the Drua their victory on a silver platter.

Despite their efforts, the Crusaders’ spark was snuffed out, with the Drua’s defensive wall proving too strong and their attacks too sharp. The historic win left the Drua celebrating with their fans, while the Crusaders are left to lick their wounds and brace for a tough road ahead with upcoming New Zealand derbies.
