Magic Round is here, and it’s set to be an electrifying weekend with eight thrilling games, 16 powerhouse teams, and all the action packed into one city.

Suncorp Stadium will be the epicenter of excitement for round eleven of the NRL competition, and the South Sydney Rabbitohs are taking the primetime spotlight, clashing with the Cowboys in the grand finale of Super Saturday.

All eyes will be on Rabbitohs’ latest star recruit, Jack Wighton, as he marks a monumental milestone—his 250th NRL game! Wighton, who has enjoyed a stellar career, is celebrated for his team spirit, having donned the jerseys of New South Wales, the Australian national team, and the Indigenous All Stars.

But it’s not just team accolades that adorn Wighton’s career. He boasts a Clive Churchill Medal from 2019 and a Dally M Medal from 2020. With Wighton’s influence already making waves at South Sydney, expect his teammates to pull out all the stops to secure a win in his honor.

The Rabbitohs are entering the fray with a swagger, having a strong track record against North Queensland. Despite a hiccup last year, they previously enjoyed a seven-match winning streak against the Cowboys from 2018 to 2022. A standout moment from that streak was the 2021 thrashing, where they dominated the Cowboys 46-18, with Cody Walker orchestrating the attack like a maestro.

Adding to the excitement, Alex Johnston, the NRL’s third-greatest try-scorer, is back on the field after a hamstring injury. Johnston, who last played during the Good Friday victory over the Bulldogs, is ready to make up for lost time and potentially add a few more tries to his impressive tally.

Joining the comeback crew is Jacob Gagai, set to take the right wing for his third NRL match. This reshuffle sees Izaac Tu’itupou Thompson moving into the centers, pairing up with milestone man Wighton.

Taane Milne returns from a two-match suspension, eager to make a splash off the bench in jersey 17.
