The resilient 22-year-old feared his rugby league dreams were shattered, but now he’s ready to light up the field after injuries sidelined regulars Dean Hawkins and Lachlan Ilias.
Teaupa’s world came crashing down when he was struck by a car walking home from post-game celebrations with his junior club, St Johns Eagles. In a coma and with a fractured skull, the young star couldn’t remember anything except the thrill of playing footy that day.
“They told me not to play contact sports, but all I could remember was football,” he revealed. Despite doctor’s orders, Teaupa couldn’t stay away from the game and played touch with his brothers while recovering.

Since joining the Rabbitohs at 15, he’s been a relentless talent, scoring two tries in the Charity Shield and earning a call-up to the Tongan national team last year. Now, he’ll show off his skills in the big leagues, joined by Latrell Mitchell, back from suspension, and fellow debutant Matt French.
