Storm’s ‘Iron Wall’ shuts down Panthers in season opener

In a gripping display of defensive prowess, the Melbourne Storm shut out reigning champs Penrith Panthers in a nail-biting 8-0 victory, kicking off their season with a bang and extending an incredible unbeaten streak in Round 1 to 22 years.

Despite missing key players Cameron Munster and Nelson Asofa-Solomona, the Storm, under the guidance of mastermind Craig Bellamy, wowed fans at AAMI Park with a masterclass in grit and determination.

The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Reimis Smith crossed the line off a strategic kick from Jonah Pezet, with Meaney’s kick sealing the deal at 8-0.
